Why Timing Matters
Newborns change so beautifully in those first weeks. The tiny details, curled poses and sleepy expressions are at their most natural in the early days. This short window is perfect for creating timeless, heartfelt images. Every session is calm, baby-led and unhurried, allowing you to relax, connect, and enjoy the experience while we capture something truly special.
We recommend booking during pregnancy, around your 20 week scan, to secure a provisional date shortly after your due date — then we can adjust as needed.
Imagining Your Artwork
At Holly & Ivy, every newborn photoshoot begins with the end in mind - beautiful, meaningful artwork created for your home. Picture your baby on your walls, captured in those fleeting early days when they are still tiny, sleepy and new, before those first changes arrive and time begins to move a little faster.
Before your session, take a quiet moment to look around your home and notice the spaces waiting to be filled. Think about who you’d love to include? This could be perhaps grandparents or multiple generations — and whether your newborn portraits might also become a thoughtful gift for someone you love most.

A short phone or FaceTime call to plan your session, select your collection, and secure your date with a session fee.

Discuss your outfit options and receive personalised styling guidance to refine the final look.
Create
Arrive, relax, and enjoy a thoughtfully guided photography experience.
Reveal
Around two weeks later, we’ll meet online to view your images and finalise your collection. Framed prints will be available 4-6 weeks after selection.
Next Chapter
Now is a good time to plan your baby’s sitter session, which will be while they’re sitting independently but not yet crawling (6-9 months old)
